This lovely antique plate, adorned with a blue and white transferware design depicting "Tombs near Etaya on the Jumna River," was crafted by the English pottery company C.E.&M. (Cork, Edge & Malkin). This partnership operated the Queen Street Pottery located in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England, from 1860 to 1871.This piece of art belongs to the "Indian Scenery" collection, which draws inspiration from travel illustrations dating back to the early 19th century. The original series was created by Thomas & Benjamin Godwin (T&BG) during the 1830s. The artwork depicts the town of Etaya, now known as Etwawah, located along the banks of the Yamuna (Jumna) River in Uttar Pradesh, India.Measuring 9 inches in diameter and a height of 1 inch, this exquisite transferware plate is in great antique condition, with only two minor age-related pittings tucked into the scenery, as shown in several photographs.* Kindly keep in mind that our vintage and antique items are not brand new. We strive to carefully point out and display any scratches, imperfections, signs of wear, and tears.
